17 categories ready from day one

You don't need to build a category list before you start. Netmonth comes with 17 ready-made categories in your language, such as dining, groceries and transportation, each with merchant keyword rules. A transaction from STARBUCKS, for example, lands in Dining automatically. You can rename categories or add your own whenever you like.

Rules that learn from your corrections

Every household spends differently. When you move a merchant to a different category, Netmonth can save that choice as a rule. The next time the same merchant appears in a statement, it goes straight to the right category. Over a few months, most of your transactions are categorized before you even look at them.

Fix uncategorized transactions in one click

Some transactions will arrive without a category, especially from merchants you haven't seen before. After you add a few rules, one click applies them to all uncategorized transactions at once. There's no need to go back through old months row by row. You can also bulk-set a category for many rows while reviewing an import.

  • Apply rules to uncategorized items
  • Bulk-set categories on import
  • Works on past transactions too

Split one payment across categories

A single card payment at a big-box store might include groceries, household items and a gift. Split it into several parts, each with its own category and amount, so your spending breakdown stays accurate. Transfers between your own accounts and credit card payments can be marked as transfers, so they aren't counted as income or expenses.

  • Split a transaction into several categories
  • Transfer type for card payments
  • Accurate category totals
